Rod Carson is out as the head football coach of the Carver-Birmingham Rams, marking the end of a ten-year tenure split between two periods in charge. Carson”s overall record during his time at Carver stands at 43 wins and 56 losses.
Throughout his coaching career at Carver, which began in 2014 and spanned until 2019 and then resumed from 2022 to 2025, Carson led the Rams to a 6-3 finish this season. However, the team”s journey ended prematurely with a loss in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A state playoffs.
Last season, the Rams finished with a 4-5 record, which resulted in their first playoff appearance since 2017, although they were eliminated in the opening round. Carson”s leadership has seen ups and downs, but ultimately, the decision was made to seek a new direction for the program.
This coaching change comes amid a broader trend in high school football as schools are increasingly looking for fresh strategies and leadership. Carson”s departure raises questions about the future of the Rams and who will step in to take the helm in this new chapter.
