Troy Aikman Discusses John Harbaugh”s Fit with New York Giants

Troy Aikman recently shared his insights on the potential impact of John Harbaugh as the head coach of the New York Giants during his regular segment on “The Musers.” Aikman emphasized Harbaugh”s impressive credentials, suggesting that his experience could be exactly what the Giants need to become competitive again in the NFL.

Aikman remarked, “I would expect him to be successful there in New York. Obviously, his resume speaks for itself. It”s been a long time since we”ve seen the Giants be relatively competitive, and it”s a shame because they are one of those franchises that we often talk about that I think the league”s better when they”re good.” He acknowledged that Harbaugh had numerous options and was able to choose the right fit for himself, indicating that it was a strategic decision.

Furthermore, Aikman noted, “He brings a wealth of experience and probably what that organization needs at this point in time.” He expressed optimism about the Giants” potential for improvement, suggesting that Harbaugh could effectively build on the existing talent within the team.

Turning his attention to the Philadelphia Eagles, Aikman speculated about the challenges the franchise might face moving forward. He praised General Manager Howie Roseman for his excellent management of the roster, including successful trades and strategic upgrades during the trade deadline. However, he also cautioned that the organization seems to have many voices influencing decisions, which can complicate matters when the team struggles.

Aikman shared, “It feels—though I can”t say this with 100% certainty—that there are a lot of cooks in the kitchen over there. When things don”t go well, often changes are made that aren”t necessarily dictated by the head coach.” He pointed out the recurring issues on the offensive side of the ball, particularly the loss of several coordinators to head coaching positions elsewhere, which has hindered the Eagles” consistency and performance.

Despite these concerns, Aikman remained confident in the Eagles” talent, suggesting that they will likely return to contention in the next season. “They”re still a really talented team, and I would imagine that they”ll be right back where they”ve been going into next year and contending once again,” he concluded.
