Washington Huskies Part Ways with Offensive Coordinator Jimmie Dougherty

The Washington Huskies have announced the departure of offensive coordinator Jimmie Dougherty after just one season. The university has not yet appointed a replacement, and there is currently no offensive coordinator listed for the 2026 season on the official website.

Dougherty, who took on the offensive coordinator role after serving as the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2024, expressed gratitude for his time at the University of Washington in a message shared on social media. “To the city of Seattle, words can”t express what you mean to me and my family!!!” he wrote. “Most of all the players, love you guys forever, thank you.”

At 47 years old, Dougherty began his coaching relationship with Washington head coach Jedd Fisch in 2021 while they were both at Arizona. When Fisch was brought on board at Washington, Dougherty followed and assumed the offensive coordinator position for the first time since his tenure at San Jose State in 2014. Fisch expressed his appreciation for Dougherty”s contributions to the team, noting, “I have worked with Jimmie Dougherty for 7 years and am appreciative for his many contributions to our success as an offense and as a team. I want to thank Jimmie and wish him all the best in the future.”

The next offensive coordinator will inherit a team led by quarterback Demond Williams Jr., who recently made headlines due to his tumultuous experience with the transfer portal. As the Huskies move forward, the search for a new offensive leader will be crucial in shaping the future of the team”s offensive strategy.

As Dougherty looks for his next opportunity, the football community will be watching closely to see where his career takes him next.
