Aidan Stewart Commits to Kent State Following Decommitment from Air Force

Aidan Stewart, a wide receiver from Avon Lake, has made a significant decision regarding his college football career. Just six days after withdrawing his commitment from Air Force, Stewart announced his new commitment to Kent State on national signing day.

On February 4, 2026, Stewart shared his commitment on social media, stating, “I think Kent State is good and on their way up. Last year, they had five wins. So they are doing a lot better. Hopefully, I am going there to help them win more.”

His swift transition to Kent State came shortly after Stewart decommitted due to medical concerns. The coaching staff at Kent State, including head coach Mark Carney and assistant coach C.J. Conrad, actively pursued Stewart, personally visiting Avon Lake to express their interest.

Stewart expressed his appreciation for the attention, saying, “If they are coming to Avon Lake, that means they want me for me. As soon as that happened, I was already leaning toward Kent State. As the week went by, it felt like Kent State was where I needed to be.”

After a winless season in 2024, Kent State rebounded, finishing with a record of 5-7 and a 4-4 mark in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Stewart joins two other local players who recently signed with the Golden Flashes: Williams Bierfeldt of Westlake and Cole Miller, a quarterback from North Ridgeville.

In addition to his recent commitment, Stewart has earned recognition as a two-time All-Ohioan and was named the Southwestern Conference”s Specialist of the Year in 2025. He concluded his high school career with impressive statistics, notching 641 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, despite suffering a severe knee injury during the regular season finale.

This commitment marks a new chapter for Stewart as he looks to contribute to Kent State”s growing football program.
