Air Force Tops San Jose State 26-16 Behind Liam Szarka”s Three Touchdowns

Liam Szarka was instrumental for Air Force as they secured a 26-16 victory over San Jose State on Saturday night. Szarka played a pivotal role, contributing to three touchdowns throughout the game.

Despite trailing, San Jose State fought back, with Denis Lynch converting a 34-yard field goal to bring the score to 23-16 with 5:43 left on the clock. However, Air Force managed to control the clock effectively, and Reagan Tubbs sealed the game with a 33-yard field goal just 34 seconds before the final whistle.

Throughout the match, Szarka completed 5 of his 10 passing attempts for 41 yards while also rushing for 87 yards on 25 carries. His performance included two short touchdown runs in the second quarter that helped establish a lead for Air Force.

In addition to Szarka”s contributions, Owen Allen had a strong outing, rushing for 109 yards on 20 carries. On the other side, Walker Eget completed 27 of 42 passes for 334 yards but struggled with interceptions, throwing two during the contest.

For San Jose State, Leland Smith emerged as a key target, catching nine passes for 144 yards, while Kyri Shoels added six receptions for 93 yards. The Spartans also saw Steve Chavez-Soto score an 8-yard touchdown run that narrowed the gap to 16-13 early in the fourth quarter, but it wasn”t enough to change the outcome.

This victory improved Air Force”s record to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the Mountain West Conference, while San Jose State also fell to 3-6, now holding a 2-3 conference record.
