The Arizona Wildcats are ramping up their recruiting efforts for the 2027 college football class, with head coach Brent Brennan and his staff actively pursuing top prospects. Recently, the Wildcats have established themselves as serious contenders for several recruits and are in the process of scheduling official visits with key targets. Among these is four-star wide receiver Ty Johnson from Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, California, who has confirmed he will visit Arizona from June 19-21, 2024.
On February 19, Johnson announced his plans via X, declaring, “OV Locked In!” This visit marks a significant step in Arizona”s efforts to secure his commitment. Johnson is regarded as one of the premier wide receiver prospects in the nation and is currently ranked as the No. 269 overall player according to Rivals. He is also listed as the No. 31 wide receiver and the No. 24 recruit from California.
The Wildcats have been pursuing Johnson since extending him an offer back in May 2025. Their consistent efforts have placed them among the leaders in his recruitment, as a report earlier this week indicated that Arizona is considered a frontrunner for his services. Arizona is not alone in vying for Johnson; other programs, including Arizona State and Washington, are also in the mix. However, the primary competition appears to be from UCLA, which is set to host Johnson for an official visit from May 15 to May 17.
Bringing Johnson to Tucson is a critical objective for the Wildcats, providing an opportunity for Brennan and his coaching staff to deepen their relationship with the talented receiver and bolster their standing in his recruitment. As of now, Johnson has not announced a commitment date, but he is expected to make a decision following his visits this spring and summer. If the Wildcats can leave a lasting impression during his official visit in June, they may significantly enhance their chances of landing one of the top wide receivers in the 2027 class.
