The Auburn Tigers are focusing on enhancing their rushing attack as they look to the future, particularly in the 2028 recruiting class. Among the prospects they are targeting is Jacez Walton, who is the younger brother of a former Auburn target. Walton has announced his plans for an official visit to Auburn, which he believes will be pivotal in his recruitment process.
“Right now, I”m unsure about where Auburn stands on my list due to the coaching change,” Walton explained. “However, this visit is going to reveal a lot about both where they are with me and where I stand with them. I”m looking forward to building new relationships with the coaching staff during my visit.”
Measuring six feet and weighing 205 pounds, Walton is recognized as a three-star running back, currently positioned as the 11th-best running back in his class and the 18th overall player in Georgia. In addition to Auburn, he has scheduled visits with several other major programs, including Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Notre Dame.
Walton is particularly drawn to Auburn for a variety of reasons. “When I think of Auburn, the word “superstar” comes to mind,” he stated. “Auburn always seems to have that one standout player. I also appreciate how close it is to home and the beauty of the campus and facilities.”
Superstar athletes have been a hot topic in Auburn”s recent history, especially with new talent like Byrum Brown and former player Cam Coleman making headlines in the transfer portal. Walton, although still early in his career, feels poised to join the ranks of these notable players. “I consider myself a complete player,” he stated confidently. “There”s not a single aspect of my game that I can”t handle. I don”t model my game after anyone specific, but if I had to mention a few, I”d say Ezekiel Elliott, Le”Veon Bell, Quinshon Judkins, and my brother Jonaz Walton.”
The running back position clearly runs in the Walton family, as Jacez”s brother Jonaz Walton was a four-star running back in the 2026 class and is now playing at Notre Dame, which is one of the schools Jacez plans to visit last in his recruitment journey. Starting with Auburn, if the Tigers manage to make a strong impression during this official visit, they could very well secure the next standout running back from the Walton lineage.
