The Pop-Tarts Bowl is set for December 27, featuring a matchup between BYU and Georgia Tech. While the College Football Playoff kicks off on Friday, this particular bowl game has garnered attention for its playful and quirky promotional theme.
Both teams recently unveiled their Pop-Tarts-themed helmets, adding to the excitement surrounding the game. BYU will don its classic white helmets, adorned with sprinkles along the stripe, whereas Georgia Tech will sport white helmets featuring sprinkles on both the stripe and the logo.
This year marks the first season that Pop-Tarts has taken over the sponsorship of this 35-year-old bowl from another Kellogg”s brand, Cheez-It. Since the brand”s involvement, the game has introduced whimsical elements, including an edible mascot and a toaster trophy during its initial two seasons.
Fans can expect a creative showdown between the teams, which will include three edible mascots. Last year”s game saw Iowa State, ranked No. 18, narrowly defeat No. 15 Miami with a score of 42-41, earning quarterback Rocco Becht the MVP award.
Georgia Tech has a history in this bowl, having participated twice before, with victories in 1997 and 2004. The upcoming contest, dubbed “The People”s National Championship,” will kick off at 3:30 PM EST in Orlando, Florida, and will be broadcast on ABC.
The anticipation continues to build as BYU looks to capitalize on the opportunity after missing out on the College Football Playoffs, while Georgia Tech aims for another win in this festive and unique bowl matchup.
