Texas high school running back Jett Walker has officially changed his commitment from West Virginia to the Gophers as of Monday. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound athlete from Georgetown, Texas, had been committed to the Mountaineers since April but opted for Minnesota following a visit during their thrilling 23-20 victory over Michigan State last weekend.
Walker, a three-star recruit, boasts an impressive career total of over 5,000 rushing yards. His decision to join the Gophers adds to their growing recruiting class for 2026, marking him as the 26th commitment. He also had offers from several other programs including Houston, San Diego State, UNLV, and Charlotte.
In addition to his prowess on the football field, Walker is also an accomplished track athlete. Earlier on the same day, Missouri receiver Braiden Stevens announced his commitment to Minnesota, further bolstering the Gophers” recruiting efforts.
This commitment reflects the Gophers” ongoing efforts to enhance their roster as they build towards future seasons. With Walker”s skill set and experience, he is expected to make a significant impact in the coming years.
