Keyshawn Johnson Criticizes Notre Dame”s Bowl Decline as Whiny Behavior

Former Jets wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson expressed his frustration over Notre Dame declining bowl game invitations following their exclusion from the College Football Playoff. Johnson did not hold back, labeling the school”s decision as “bull,” suggesting it reflected a spoiled attitude.

Notre Dame”s athletic director accused the ACC, the conference in which the Fighting Irish participate in several sports, of showing favoritism towards Miami in playoff selections. Johnson criticized Notre Dame”s immediate withdrawal from bowl consideration after their playoff snub, calling it akin to “taking my ball and going home.” He remarked that such actions demonstrate a lack of maturity and competitiveness, asserting that it indicates the school may never win another national championship.

Additionally, Johnson ridiculed Notre Dame”s independent status in football while simultaneously having an agreement with the ACC to play a limited number of conference games. He questioned whether the university would continue to refuse bowl appearances every time they miss the playoffs. Johnson sarcastically remarked, “Come on, stop. So every year that you”re not in the College Football Playoff, you”re not going to a bowl game? Is that what you”re telling me? Because if that”s what you”re telling me, then you probably should quit playing football.”

Johnson”s comments reflect a broader frustration among fans and analysts regarding Notre Dame”s recent performance and decision-making. As the Fighting Irish navigate their identity in college football, the scrutiny over their actions continues to grow.
