Lincoln Prepares for Nebraska Football Spring Game with Traffic and Parking Plans

The city of Lincoln has released traffic and parking strategies for the upcoming Nebraska football Spring Game, scheduled for an 11 a.m. kickoff at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Officials are encouraging fans to prepare in advance to streamline their experience.

Similar to arrangements made during the regular season, the city will provide various accommodations for attendees. To navigate potential traffic and parking issues, fans should visit lincoln.ne.gov/closures or utilize the Waze mobile app for real-time updates.

Parking details include reserved, pre-paid options available at city garages marked with “Park & Go” signs. Fans can check locations, rates, and make reservations at parkandgo.org. Additionally, all-day parking is accessible at on-street parking meters through the Passport app. It is important to note that downtown parking meters are enforced on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Several street closures are in effect around the stadium area, including:

  • Ninth Street between M and K streets – east side lane closures
  • 10th Street between K and L streets – west side lane closure
  • 10th Street between L and N streets – west side lane closure
  • 10th Street between Q and R streets – east side lane closure
  • 12th Street between Q and R streets
  • 14th Street between Saunders Avenue and Military Road
  • K Street between Ninth and 10th streets – north side lane closure
  • L Street between 11th and Ninth streets – south side lane closure
  • N Street between 10th and Ninth streets – south side lane closure
  • R Street between 12th and 13th streets

Travel notes include the following reminders:

  • Interstate 80 exits at I-180/Downtown may experience congestion, so alternative routes are advisable.
  • North Ninth and North 10th streets will have up to two lanes closed due to ongoing construction, which could cause delays.
  • Recommended routes for entry into Lincoln include exit 399 from I-80 at West Cornhusker Highway, the North 27th Street exit, and the Rosa Parks Way exit from Highway 77.
  • Stadium Drive west of the stadium will be completely closed to vehicle traffic. Passenger drop-off and pick-up are not permitted in front of the stadium before or after the game; fans should utilize 10th and Charleston streets for these purposes.
  • Access to the Haymarket from Ninth Street via R, Q, and P streets will be prohibited 2.5 hours before the game.
  • Northbound Antelope Valley Parkway north of Salt Creek Road will be closed from halftime until one hour post-game.

Additional downtown notes include:

  • The Big Red Express service will not operate for this year”s spring game.
  • Rideshare services, including Uber and Lyft, have designated a drop-off and pick-up area on Vine Street just east of 14th Street.
  • ScooterLNK scooters will be unavailable on Saturday.

University of Nebraska updates include:

  • All campus parking lots will open at 6 a.m. and will only accept credit and debit cards.
  • Stadium gates will open at 9:30 a.m.
