The LSU Tigers tight end Trey”Dez Green has confirmed his commitment to the program for the 2026 season, as reported by CBS Sports. The sophomore standout emerged as a crucial player for the team, leading with seven touchdown receptions during the past season. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 245 pounds, Green proved to be a significant target in the red zone, finishing third on the team with 433 receiving yards.
Despite speculation regarding his potential entry into the Transfer Portal after an impressive 2025 season, Lane Kiffin and his staff successfully secured Green”s future with a new contract signed on Friday. This move comes as LSU continues to announce the re-signing of vital players for the upcoming season.
Among those re-signing is five-star freshman DJ Pickett, who has made a remarkable impact since joining the Tigers. As the second-rated cornerback in the 2025 recruiting cycle, Pickett had a strong true freshman season, participating in all 12 games and starting in two. He recorded 30 tackles, two sacks, and tied for the team lead with three interceptions against notable teams such as Florida, Oklahoma, and Western Kentucky. Furthermore, he achieved two pass breakups and a quarterback hurry, contributing to an LSU defense that topped the SEC in pass efficiency.
In 262 snaps in pass coverage, Pickett allowed only 15 receptions for a total of 188 yards, permitting just one touchdown and one first down. His performance in his inaugural year with the Tigers showcased the promise of his future at LSU, and he has now officially committed for the 2026 season.
Corey Raymond, the secondary coach for LSU, played a pivotal role in attracting Pickett to the program out of high school. His continued presence on Kiffin”s staff was instrumental in securing Pickett”s decision to remain with the Tigers. The list of players re-signing with LSU also includes:
- Zach Weeks: Linebacker (Fr.)
- Aidan Anding: Cornerback (Fr.)
- PJ Woodland: Cornerback (Soph.)
- Ja”Keem Jackson: Cornerback (Jr.)
- Michael Turner: Cornerback (Soph.)
- Dashawn Spears: Safety (Soph.)
- Charles Ross: Linebacker (Fr.)
As the LSU Tigers prepare for the upcoming season, Kiffin”s efforts in recruiting and retaining talent will be crucial for the program”s success moving forward.
