Troy Huhn, the standout quarterback from Mission Hills High School, has announced his verbal commitment to Virginia Tech. This decision was made during a live broadcast on the CBS Sports Network”s college football YouTube channel on Monday.
Huhn”s commitment comes as the new head coach, James Franklin, transitions from his previous role at Penn State to Virginia Tech. Huhn, who stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 215 pounds, was recognized by ESPN as the top uncommitted quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class.
During his senior season, Huhn threw for 2,438 yards and recorded 29 touchdown passes, leading the Grizzlies to a competitive season that ended in the CIF San Diego Section Open Division semifinals against Cathedral Catholic. His announcement to join the Hokies was met with enthusiasm, as he revealed a Virginia Tech T-shirt under his jacket with a spirited “Go Hokies!”
In related news, Cathedral Catholic”s quarterback, Brady Palmer, recently announced his commitment to Minnesota after decommitting from California following the dismissal of coach Justin Wilcox. Additionally, Cash Herrera, a senior quarterback from Bishop”s, visited Boise State after previously decommitting from Indiana.
This marks an exciting time for Virginia Tech, as Huhn becomes one of the key figures in Franklin”s inaugural recruiting class in Blacksburg.
