The Nebraska Cornhuskers concluded their latest game against Iowa, prompting an update on the redshirt status of several players for the 2025 football season. This unofficial tally reflects the participation of Nebraska players during the current season, adhering to NCAA regulations that permit a player to retain their redshirt eligibility if they compete in four or fewer regular-season games. Notably, bowl games, conference championships, and playoff appearances do not count against this limit.
At the outset of the 2025 season, 36 out of Nebraska”s 125 players had not yet used their redshirt option. In the recent game against Iowa, Nebraska fielded 63 players, matching the number used in their game against Minnesota for the highest in conference play this season. The redshirt status of linebackers Willis McGahee IV and Pierce Mooberry, both of whom have played four games, remains unchanged. Both players, along with the rest of the roster, are eligible to participate in the bowl game without affecting their redshirt status.
