Nkumba University showcased an impressive performance, defeating Soroti University 6-0 in their latest match in the University Football League (UFL) on Thursday in Entebbe. The victory was marked by a fervent home crowd that energized the players throughout the game.
The hosts began the match with vigor, seeking to establish an early advantage. In the 15th minute, Abbey Kavuma opened the scoring with a quick tap-in after Ismail Lubega delivered a cross that Soroti”s defense failed to clear.
Shortly thereafter, Saad Mukiibi nearly doubled the lead but missed the target, sending his shot over the crossbar in the 21st minute. However, in the 31st minute, Bwiruka capitalized on a loose ball in Soroti”s penalty area to make it 2-0.
Just four minutes later, Lubega delighted the home fans with a stunning free kick that found the back of the net, igniting celebrations among the supporters. Kavuma then scored his second goal of the match in the 37th minute, converting a cut-back from Buruhan Tasumba amidst a crowded box.
Two minutes into the second half, Nkumba was awarded a penalty after Joel Opiro was brought down in the box. Kavuma”s attempt was saved, but the team continued to press forward. Goals from Marvin Kagimu and Nasser Mwere in the latter stages of the match sealed a humiliating defeat for Soroti University.
This comprehensive victory places Nkumba University in second position in Group C, now with six points, just one point behind group leaders Kyambogo University.
