Ohio State Leads College Football Playoff Rankings; Indiana Holds Second Place

Ohio State maintained its position at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings for the second consecutive week, as announced on Tuesday night. Indiana held steady at No. 2, despite a narrow victory last week, while Texas A&M secured the third spot with a comfortable win.

The top five teams remained unchanged from last week”s initial rankings, with Alabama and Georgia rounding out the list. Texas Tech made a notable leap, moving up two spots to No. 6, surpassing Mississippi, which fell to No. 7 despite a decisive win over Citadel in a nonconference matchup.

Significant changes occurred further down the rankings, particularly for Miami, which rose three spots to No. 15, overtaking Georgia Tech to secure the Atlantic Coast Conference”s place in the projected 12-team playoff bracket. Meanwhile, South Florida earned the No. 24 ranking, claiming the 12th and final spot in this week”s bracket.

In addition to these movements, Oregon occupied the No. 8 position, followed by Notre Dame and Texas. Oklahoma and BYU ranked 11th and 12th respectively, making them the first two teams outside of this week”s playoff picture due to the automatic bids awarded to the ACC (Miami) and the top-ranked team from the Group of 5 (South Florida).

The final playoff bracket will be unveiled on December 7, with the 12-team playoff set to begin on December 19 and concluding a month later with the championship game.
