The Penn State football team showcased a commanding performance, defeating Nebraska 37-10 on Saturday night at Beaver Stadium. This victory marks an important moment for the Nittany Lions as they continue to build momentum in the season.
Quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer received an “A” for his performance, completing 11 of 12 passes for 181 yards and throwing one touchdown. His consistency and accuracy have been key factors in the team”s success.
The running backs also shone brightly, earning an “A” grade. Kaytron Allen rushed for a career-high 160 yards and scored two touchdowns, while Nick Singleton added 95 all-purpose yards and found the end zone twice, contributing to a record-setting night for the duo.
The receivers were equally impressive, achieving an “A” rating as five different players caught passes of at least 20 yards. Tight end Andre Rappleyea celebrated his first touchdown reception, adding to the team”s offensive depth.
The offensive linemen also received an “A” for their superior blocking, which enabled the Lions to amass a total of 412 yards and average nearly six yards per carry, improving from their previous game against Michigan State.
On the defensive side, the linemen earned a “B.” The trio of Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zane Durant, and Yvan Kemajou were instrumental, registering all three sacks, while the team limited Nebraska to just 79 rushing yards following an early 52-yard gain.
The linebackers also received a “B,” with Dominic DeLuca, Amare Campbell, and Alex Tatsch combining for 21 tackles. Campbell”s significant fourth-down stop near the goal line highlighted their defensive prowess.
The defensive backs earned a “B” as well, effectively containing Nebraska”s receivers until the Lions had established a substantial lead. They restricted the Cornhuskers to an average of 5.3 yards per pass attempt.
In special teams, the unit received a “C.” Kicker Ryan Barker improved his field-goal percentage to 13-for-14 but stumbled on his first PAT. Additionally, kickoff coverage left room for improvement.
The coaching staff was awarded an “A” for developing a strong team identity over the last three games, emphasizing a powerful ground game and effective quarterback pressure. The successful execution of a fake punt also demonstrated their strategic acumen.
