The Penn State football team achieved a decisive 37-10 victory over Nebraska on Saturday night at Beaver Stadium. This win showcased the Nittany Lions” strengths across the board.
The performance of the quarterbacks was stellar, earning an “A” grade. Ethan Grunkemeyer demonstrated significant improvement, completing 11 of 12 passes for 181 yards and throwing one touchdown.
The running backs also excelled, receiving an “A” grade for their contributions. Kaytron Allen rushed for a career-high of 160 yards and scored two touchdowns, while Nick Singleton added 95 total yards and also found the end zone twice during this record-setting night.
In the receiving corps, the Nittany Lions maintained their momentum, earning another “A.” Five players caught passes that gained at least 20 yards, and tight end Andre Rappleyea marked the occasion with his first career touchdown reception.
The offensive line also received an “A” for their performance, which surpassed their effort against Michigan State. They facilitated a total of 412 offensive yards and allowed the team to average nearly 6 yards per carry.
On the defensive side, the defensive linemen were graded a “B.” Players like Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zane Durant, and Yvan Kemajou collectively recorded all three sacks, and the defense limited Nebraska to just 79 rushing yards after an initial surge of 52 yards.
The linebackers received a “B” as well, with Dominic DeLuca, Amare Campbell, and Alex Tatsch combining for 21 tackles. Campbell notably made a critical stop on fourth down near the goal line.
The defensive backs also earned a “B,” as they effectively contained Nebraska”s receivers until a substantial lead had been established, limiting the Cornhuskers to 5.3 yards per pass attempt.
Special teams were graded with a “C.” While Ryan Barker improved his field-goal stats to 13-for-14, he did miss his first point-after-touchdown attempt, and kickoff coverage showed inconsistencies.
The coaching staff earned an “A” for successfully establishing a clear identity over the last three games. The team has focused on a strong ground game and consistently pressured opposing quarterbacks, highlighted by a successful fake punt during the match.
