The Texas Longhorns are gearing up for future success by focusing on high-level recruiting efforts, particularly for the class of 2027. One of the latest developments involves elite prospect Jasper Ngokwere, who has officially arranged an official visit to the Longhorns” campus. Ngokwere, an offensive tackle, plans to visit Austin from June 19 to June 21, as he announced on social media platform X.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian is prioritizing the development of strong offensive and defensive lines, and bringing in local talent is a key part of that strategy. Ngokwere has been making headlines with his impressive rise in the recruiting rankings, currently rated as the 25th offensive tackle and 32nd overall player in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports. His recruitment is gaining momentum, particularly after a standout performance at a recent Under Armor event.
At 6-foot-5 and weighing 270 pounds, Ngokwere possesses a frame that many scouts find appealing. His impressive arm length and physical attributes suggest that with continued development, he has the potential to ascend even higher in the recruiting landscape. “They stand in my very top schools that I”m interested in,” Ngokwere shared with Texas Longhorns On SI. “It”s a very great school, Coach Flood and all the other coaches are very great coaches and can develop you, and the program is great.”
Ngokwere”s visit is part of a busy summer recruitment cycle for the Longhorns, which includes several top-tier talents from across the nation, as well as many from Texas. Currently, he is the only offensive lineman scheduled to visit during that weekend, which will allow him to engage directly with Coach Flood and other staff members.
As it stands, the Longhorns hold the ninth spot in the national recruiting class rankings for 2027. They currently trail their rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas A&M Aggies, who are both ranked among the top three. The Longhorns” class is highlighted by the nation”s top receiving recruit, Easton Royal, but they are still in search of their first commitment from an offensive lineman. With a packed summer ahead, Ngokwere could be a crucial target for Sarkisian and his coaching staff as they look to fill that gap.
