The Philadelphia Eagles are set to face the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday afternoon in a highly anticipated Week 12 matchup. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Eagles are favored by 3.5 points on the road. Initially, the betting line opened with the Eagles at 3.5-point favorites but later adjusted to 4.5 before returning to 3.5 following the Cowboys” convincing victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football.
The Cowboys” defense showcased its best performance of the season, allowing only 16 points and 236 yards in that game. Prior to this, their best defensive metrics had been 22 points and 292 yards allowed. Interestingly, the Cowboys entered Week 11 with the second-highest points allowed per game at 30.7 and third-highest in yards allowed per game at 381.3. While the improvement in their defense is notable, one might argue it could be due to the struggles of the Raiders, who are currently 2-8 this season.
Under the guidance of former coach Chip Kelly, the Raiders have had a dismal offensive season, scoring among the fewest points in the league. However, the Cowboys may indeed be performing better since acquiring players like Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, alongside the return of DeMarvion Overshown, Malik Hooker, and Shavon Revel from injuries.
The upcoming game will test the Eagles” offense, which has often been inconsistent. In their previous encounter during the NFL Kickoff Game at the start of the 2025 season, they managed to score only 24 points—one of the lowest totals allowed by the Cowboys this season—and compiled just 307 yards of offense. With the Eagles scoring a mere 26 points over their last two games, expectations for a high-scoring output may be tempered.
On the bright side for the Eagles, their defense is performing at a commendable level, thanks in part to Vic Fangio“s coaching. The defense”s pass rush may pose challenges for Dak Prescott, particularly since the Eagles” run defense has improved, allowing the fifth-fewest yards per rush attempt over their last three games. Even if the Eagles do not secure a win, they remain well-positioned to clinch the NFC East title.
However, a victory against the Cowboys would significantly bolster their standing, especially while donning their Kelly Green jerseys at AT&T Stadium. Despite the odds, predicting a straightforward win for the Eagles might be overly optimistic, as they have faced difficulties throughout the season. As of now, I am inclined to lean towards taking the points with the Cowboys at +3.5. What are your thoughts?
