Seahawks and Rams Lead Super Bowl LXI Odds in Open Field

The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams are currently the favorites to win Super Bowl LXI, both holding +950 odds according to DraftKings. Following closely behind are the Buffalo Bills at +1100, while the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and New England Patriots are all tied at +1300.

After entering the previous season as long shots at +6000, the Seahawks captured the championship in Super Bowl LX. Now, they are favored to repeat their success in the upcoming season. The current odds suggest an unusually competitive field, as Seattle and Los Angeles are poised to set records for the longest odds for a preseason favorite since at least 1977, according to ESPN Research and SportsOddsHistory.com.

In recent years, +950 would have marked the second-shortest odds once and fifth-shortest six times since 2015. The landscape is shifting, as the odds indicate a more balanced competition among teams. Notable contenders include the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, both at +1400, and the Los Angeles Chargers at +1500, contributing to a tightly packed middle tier of contenders.

Johnny Avello, director of the DraftKings Sportsbook, commented on the current uncertainty among teams, noting that the prevalence of lower odds at the top implies fewer high-priced teams in the middle. “When you have teams that are a little higher priced on the top end of the future book, that just means you can”t have teams that are really high priced in the middle,” he said. This reflects the recent trends in the league, particularly after the surprising playoff runs of the Patriots and Seahawks.

Following the 2025 season, both teams had entered with +6000 odds, which tied Seattle with the 2001 Patriots as the second-largest preseason long shot to eventually win the championship. The opening odds for Super Bowl LXI are seen as a direct response to the recent season”s outcomes, according to John Ewing, media insights manager at BetMGM.

Early betting trends show the Seahawks taking a commanding 21.2% of the bets and 33.8% of the total handle, with the Patriots and Chicago Bears at +2500 receiving 13.9% and 10.3%, respectively. The Rams have also attracted significant attention, capturing 12.9% of wagers.

Joey Feazel, head of football at Caesars Sportsbook, highlighted the Rams” strong position heading into the next season, pointing to their dominance throughout the previous campaign and minimal roster changes. With quarterback Matthew Stafford expected to return, Los Angeles is positioned as a formidable contender.

In the early betting phase, DraftKings reported a substantial wager on the New York Giants, prompting a shift in their odds from +8000 to +7000. At the bottom of the Super Bowl LXI odds, the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins are both listed at 250-1.
