Arkansas Quarterback Taylen Green Shines on Day 3 of NFL Scouting Combine

The third day of the NFL Scouting Combine has concluded, showcasing quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs eager to impress scouts with their skills and athleticism. While excelling at the combine does not guarantee a first-round selection or even a draft spot, it presents a key opportunity for players to alleviate any concerns teams may have regarding their abilities.

Among the standout performers was Taylen Green, the quarterback from Arkansas, who made a significant mark in a class viewed as underwhelming. He established new combine records for quarterbacks with a broad jump of 11 feet 2 inches and a vertical leap of 43.5 inches. Furthermore, Green clocked the second-fastest 40-yard dash time for a quarterback in combine history at 4.37 seconds. Although there were some inconsistencies in his passing, his impressive athletic feats are hard to overlook.

Another noteworthy performance came from Mike Washington Jr., who recorded the fastest 40-yard dash among running backs at 4.33 seconds, along with strong vertical and broad jump results. Despite his decision to skip field drills, Washington”s speed likely secured his place in the upcoming draft.

This year”s wide receiver class has been dominated by discussions around Carnell Tate from Ohio State and Jordyn Tyson of Arizona State. However, with Tyson sidelined due to a hamstring injury, other players seized the opportunity to shine. Deion Burks, standing at 5 feet 9 inches, showcased elite athleticism by running the third-fastest 40-yard dash at 4.30 seconds and achieving the highest vertical jump of 42.5 inches among receivers. After a season hampered by inconsistent quarterback play, Burks has certainly placed himself on teams” radars.

Additionally, Bryce Lance, the younger brother of former first-round pick Trey Lance, made a significant impression at the combine. At 6 feet 3 inches, Lance recorded a 4.34 second 40-yard dash, ranking fifth among wide receivers. Although he will turn 25 before the start of his rookie season, if he can deliver immediate productivity, age should not be a hindrance. His performance earned him the top grade among receivers according to NFL”s Next Gen Stats, underscoring a strong day for him.

Honorable mentions from the day include Jeremiyah Love from Notre Dame, Jeff Caldwell from Cincinnati, Skyler Bell from UConn, and Drew Allar from Penn State.
