Christian McCaffrey Surpasses LaDainian Tomlinson on All-Time Receiving List

Christian McCaffrey, the running back for the San Francisco 49ers, has made significant strides in the NFL”s all-time receiving rankings for running backs. In a recent game against the Seattle Seahawks, despite a subdued performance, McCaffrey achieved a notable milestone that capped off an impressive season.

During the game, McCaffrey recorded eight carries, totaling 23 rushing yards, along with six receptions that brought in 34 receiving yards. This performance increased his career reception total to 626, allowing him to surpass Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson for third place in all-time receptions among running backs. He now trails only Larry Centers and Marshall Faulk.

McCaffrey concluded the season with 102 receptions, the highest among all NFL running backs, making him the first player at his position to achieve 100 receptions in three different seasons. His previous totals include 107 receptions in 2018 and 116 in 2019. Moreover, McCaffrey holds three of the top five single-season reception records for running backs in league history.

In addition to his receptions, McCaffrey led all NFL running backs this season with 924 receiving yards, becoming only the third running back to surpass 900 receiving yards in two separate seasons. He currently ranks sixth all-time in career receiving yards for running backs. Furthermore, his 413 total touches this season have set a franchise record for the most touches in a single season.

As the 49ers prepare for their upcoming playoff matchups, McCaffrey”s performance will be pivotal in their quest for success. With recent injury updates concerning key players, including Trent Williams, the team is focused on maintaining momentum heading into the playoffs.
