The Philadelphia Eagles have officially placed rookie safety Andrew Mukuba on injured reserve after he fractured his leg during last Sunday”s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. The injury will keep Mukuba sidelined for a minimum of four games as he begins his recovery.
This development was confirmed in a report released on Monday, with the Eagles making the move official on Wednesday. Head coach Nick Sirianni addressed the media, emphasizing that he would not speculate on the timeline for Mukuba”s return, stating, “I will never put a timetable on a guy.”
Mukuba has been a significant part of the Eagles” defense this season, participating in over 90 percent of the defensive snaps across the first 11 games. During this time, he has accumulated 46 tackles, including two for a loss, two interceptions, and a half-sack.
In Mukuba”s absence, Sydney Brown is expected to step up alongside Reed Blankenship as the starting safeties. To fill the vacant roster spot left by Mukuba, the Eagles have promoted wide receiver Britain Covey to the active roster. Covey has been with the team for the past three seasons, primarily serving as a punt returner and appearing in 38 games.
