The Eagles have secured a deal with receiver Hollywood Brown, finalizing a one-year contract, which the team announced on Tuesday. While the Eagles did not reveal specific financial details, a source has confirmed to ESPN that the agreement is valued at up to $6.5 million.
Known for his speed and ability to stretch the field, Brown is anticipated to take on the role previously held by Jahan Dotson, who departed for the Atlanta Falcons in free agency last week. At 28 years old, Brown boasts a more impressive resume compared to Dotson, including a standout 1,000-yard season in 2021. In the previous year, he recorded 49 receptions for 587 yards and five touchdowns while playing for the Chiefs, who were facing roster challenges.
In Philadelphia, Brown is likely to serve as the third receiver, positioned behind DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. However, this dynamic could shift if A.J. Brown, who has been the subject of trade discussions this offseason, is moved before the regular season kicks off.
Hollywood Brown”s journey includes two years with the Chiefs, where he primarily functioned as the third option for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. During the last season, he managed to gather 49 catches for 587 yards and five touchdowns. He re-signed with Kansas City on a one-year deal a year ago, aiming to prove his capabilities as a reliable receiver in the league.
His previous season was marred by a sternoclavicular injury that sidelined him for most of 2024, occurring on the very first play of the preseason. After missing 14 games, he made a comeback and contributed to the Chiefs” run to Super Bowl LIX.
Hollywood Brown was drafted in the first round in 2019 by the Baltimore Ravens. After spending three seasons with the Ravens, where he progressively enhanced his role, he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals, where he played for two years prior to joining Kansas City. In 2022, he tallied 67 receptions for 709 yards and three touchdowns. Over his seven-season career, he has achieved 371 receptions for 4,322 yards and 33 touchdowns.
This signing marks a significant move for the Eagles as they look to strengthen their receiving corps leading into the upcoming season.
