Former Dothan Player Adam Watford Named Semifinalist for FCS Punter of the Year

A former player from the Dothan Wolves, Adam Watford, has earned recognition as a semifinalist for a prestigious award in college football. The junior punter from the University of North Alabama has been selected as one of ten semifinalists for the 2025 FCS Punter of the Year award, which is presented annually to the top punter at the FCS level by the Augusta Sports Council based in Augusta, Georgia.

Watford”s performance during the 2025 season has been exceptional. He finished with 66 punts totaling 3,073 yards, averaging an impressive 46.6 yards per punt. His skill is further highlighted by 18 of those punts landing inside the 20-yard line, 21 punts exceeding 50 yards, and 12 forced fair catches. These statistics positioned him as the leading punter in the United Athletic Conference for the year.

Remarkably, Watford is the only punter in Division I football to achieve three punts over 70 yards this season, with notable performances against Central Arkansas, Utah Tech, and Tarleton State.

In addition to his semifinalist status for the FCS Punter of the Year, Watford has also been honored as the UAC Co-Specialist of the Year and received first-team all-conference accolades, as determined by the head coaches within the league.

Having graduated from Dothan High School in 2022, Watford played a significant role in the Wolves” playoff campaign that same year. Voting for the FCS Punter of the Year will take place from December 4 to December 11, with the winner announced on December 15.
