Georgia Tech”s Underrated Players to Watch This Spring Football Season

As Georgia Tech gears up for spring football, the anticipation builds with new faces emerging on both the coaching staff and roster. The Yellow Jackets are set to commence practices later this month, and there are several players who, while not in the spotlight, are expected to make significant contributions.

With the departures of quarterbacks Haynes King and Aaron Philo, the competition for the starting role is heating up. Transfers like Alberto Mendoza and redshirt freshman Graham Knowles are viewed as front-runners, but don”t overlook redshirt freshman Grady Adamson. Known for his impressive athleticism and underrated arm strength, Adamson was an early commitment to Georgia Tech”s 2025 recruiting class and has remained loyal despite interest from other programs. Although Mendoza may be favored to win the job, Adamson is a name to keep an eye on this spring.

The wide receiver position is undergoing a transformation as Georgia Tech loses several key contributors due to the transfer portal and players aging out of eligibility. The team has recruited two receivers from the portal, yet they will depend on younger talent already on the roster to fill the gaps. Debron Gatling, who transferred from South Carolina, is expected to see a significant increase in playing time and could emerge as a key player this fall.

On the defensive side, Georgia Tech struggled with pass rushing last season, but young defensive end Amontrae Bradford showcased potential during his limited opportunities. He ranked third among the team”s defensive ends in pass rush grade, according to PFF, and possesses the physical attributes necessary to be a reliable player on every down. The Yellow Jackets will need Bradford to develop consistency in their pass rush this season.

Additionally, Fenix Felton had some opportunities late last season and displayed promise as a young player. The team”s defensive backfield features several young talents, including Felton, Tae Harris, and Elgin Sessions, all of whom are vying for increased playing time. Felton, who played only 86 snaps last season, is likely to see much more action in a young safety group this year.
