Jacob Roberts, a former linebacker in the Canadian Football League, has officially signed a multi-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings. According to a source familiar with the situation, the agreement spans three years. The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, noted that the Vikings have not yet made a public announcement regarding this signing.
Roberts, standing six feet one inch tall and weighing 233 pounds, had previously participated in a workout with the Vikings after the conclusion of the 2025 CFL season. At just 24 years old and hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, he made a significant impact last season with the Calgary Stampeders, leading the team with 93 tackles. Additionally, he contributed with nine special-teams tackles, four sacks, and one forced fumble across 18 regular-season games.
Joining the Stampeders in 2024, Roberts recorded four tackles and ten special-teams tackles in six games during his first season. He was poised to enter free agency in the CFL next month, having come to the league after completing an impressive collegiate career at Wake Forest. In 2023, he amassed 83 tackles, including ten for loss, and forced two fumbles in 12 games. Prior to his time at Wake Forest, he began his college football journey at North Carolina A&T from 2019 to 2022.
Notably, Roberts was not selected during the 2024 NFL Draft, but his performance in the CFL has now earned him a promising opportunity in the NFL.
