Jets” Quarterback Situation Uncertain Ahead of Jaguars Game

The New York Jets face a critical decision regarding their starting quarterback as they prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. On Wednesday, head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed that both Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields would not participate in practice due to injuries.

“Tyrod and Justin, they won”t be practicing today,” Glenn stated. “We”ll see exactly how they progress during the week. Today, Brady will be getting all of the first-team reps. You guys might”ve already found out that we signed Adrian Martinez, who was with us during camp. There”s a plan for the quarterbacks.”

If Taylor and Fields are unable to play on Sunday, undrafted rookie Brady Cook would likely take the starting role, while Martinez would serve as the backup. Despite the uncertainty, there is a glimmer of hope as ESPN”s Rich Cimini reported that Fields was observed doing some “light running” on a side field during practice.

“Justin Fields (knee) is on the side field, doing some light running,” Cimini tweeted. However, it is still unclear if this progress will be sufficient for him to return to the field in time for the game. Fields was listed as “DNP” on Wednesday”s Injury Report, indicating that he has not yet progressed to even a limited practice status.

Both Fields and Taylor bring a wealth of experience to the team, having made multiple starts for the Jets this season. Although the Jets have not officially ruled out either of the veteran quarterbacks, missing practice does not definitively mean a player will be sidelined for the game. The upcoming Injury Report on Thursday will be pivotal in determining their availability.

If both Fields and Taylor do not practice again, it would significantly increase Cook”s chances of being named the starter. Fields” light running indicates he is making progress, but whether that will lead to a return to practice remains to be seen.

As the Jets prepare for this crucial game, the status of their quarterbacks remains a focal point for fans and analysts alike.
