Lions Face Offensive Line Challenges Ahead of Steelers Showdown

The Detroit Lions are bracing for potential changes on their offensive line as they prepare for a pivotal matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday at Ford Field.

In a concerning development, center Graham Glasgow missed practice due to a knee injury for the second consecutive day and is now officially listed as questionable for the game. Head coach Dan Campbell acknowledged his uncertainty regarding Glasgow”s availability, but mentioned that players like Kingsley Eguakun and Michael Niese are being considered as possible replacements.

The Lions are also dealing with the uncertain status of left guard Christian Mahogany, who is aiming to return from a broken fibula. Additionally, Trystan Colon, who has been limited due to a wrist injury, is another option that the team is evaluating.

On Friday, Mahogany, Colon, cornerback Amik Robertson (hand), and left tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder) were all designated as questionable. When asked about the center position in the event that Glasgow cannot play, Campbell said, “We”ll see.”

Colon has made four starts this season, primarily at left guard. Kayode Awosika, who has also started four games at guard, is regaining health. Recently, rookie Miles Frazier has been stepping in on the interior line, rotating with Colon at left guard during various practice sessions.

Campbell elaborated, “We”ve obviously worked Colon, because he”s been there. I know he”s got the wrist, but he was out there working with it yesterday, just trying to get Graham off his feet. But I mean, we”ve worked Niese, we”ve worked Kingsley, we”ve kind of just hit all-around, and we”re rolling the guards, too. So it”s really been a little bit of a revolving door, trying to get a number of guys ready because there”s a lot of flex going into this game.”

Regarding Mahogany”s situation, Campbell stated that he would have more information following Friday”s practice. “Yesterday, I thought he looked pretty good. Wasn”t perfect, but I thought he looked pretty good. Some of it”s going to be — I know he”s a little sore today, and how he feels in today”s practice, that”s what a lot of it”s gonna come down to,” he remarked.

In addition to Glasgow, the Lions were also without Decker and starting safety Kerby Joseph (knee) during practice. Joseph was officially ruled out for the game. Decker has battled a lingering shoulder issue throughout the season but has still participated in 12 of the Lions” 14 games.
