Peyton and Eli Manning were well aware of what to expect when they invited Marshawn Lynch to join them on Saturday night”s Manningcast. During their broadcast of the primetime NFL matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers, the iconic running back was present to witness his former team secure the top seed in the NFC.
Before Lynch could utter a single word, the Manning brothers issued a clear warning about the use of inappropriate language on air. “We had you on the show in season one and forgot to tell you, you cannot use profanity on air,” Eli Manning, celebrating his 45th birthday, stated. “So, Marshawn, would you please promise not to curse tonight unless of course you”re cursing at Peyton. We all agree that it”s totally fine if you do that.”
With a broad smile, Lynch responded, “Well, you know I was about to ask, one of the first things I was gonna ask you was how much was that fine last time because I know they hit y”all with it?”
Peyton joked, “Expensive. You know Eli had to pay it, so it”s all good, Marshawn, it”s all good.” In a surprising turn, Lynch replied, “Just to get things on the up and up, s*it, f*ck. Let”s just get it started, get it out there. Alright, now we got it out of the way.”
The clip was shared on social media by Omaha Productions, which was founded by the former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback, with a lighthearted caption indicating that Lynch was “just here so we get fined.”
Weeks prior, Lynch appeared on Amazon Prime ahead of the Thursday Night Football game featuring the Los Angeles Rams and the Seahawks. His candid remarks prompted the network to censor much of his pre-game segment. Aiming to avoid further issues during the Manningcast, Lynch kept a tighter grip on his language while watching current Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet pursue his single-season rushing touchdown record.
Charbonnet needed just one more rushing touchdown to tie Lynch”s single-season record of 13 touchdowns, but he fell short, finishing the game with 74 yards on 17 carries as the Seahawks triumphed 13-3 over the 49ers, ensuring that the NFC”s path to the Super Bowl would go through Lumen Field.
Reflecting on his legendary NFL career, which included over 10,413 rushing yards and 85 touchdowns, Lynch highlighted a specific moment that stands out: the infamous “Beast Quake.” This unforgettable play occurred during his first playoff game in 2010 against the New Orleans Saints, where he ran for a stunning 67-yard touchdown, breaking nine tackles in the process.
Recalling that iconic moment, the Manning brothers asked Lynch what made him so adept at breaking tackles. Laughing, Lynch replied, “You want the truth? Running from my momma man. As clean as I can get, I think it was running away from my momma. She was real fast, a 200-meter track runner. She had the record in Oakland for like 20 years. When I wasn”t doing right and I thought I could run away from mom, she put them feet to the pavement and she would hawk me down, you feel me? So I had to get creative.”
Lynch continued, “Mom, she ain”t no little lady. She”s like a linebacker. She”d get the truck and s***, so I had to stay sharp. I had to stay right and I been doing it from an early, early age.” His exuberant personality and unique insights continue to endear him to fans and analysts alike.
