Odell Beckham Jr. Wows Team USA Flag Football Coach at Brady”s Classic

Odell Beckham Jr. demonstrated his exceptional athleticism during Tom Brady”s Flag Football Classic, capturing the attention of Team USA Flag Football head coach Jorge Cascudo. Despite being nearly two years removed from his last official NFL appearance, Beckham proved he still possesses elite skills at the exhibition event held at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

Beckham played for Wildcats FC, a team led by quarterback Jalen Hurts and coached by Kyle Shanahan. Although the Wildcats fell short to Team USA in the final, Beckham”s performance left a lasting impression on Cascudo. The coach expressed his admiration for Beckham”s abilities in a post-tournament press conference.

“Odell is a great athlete,” Cascudo stated. “He made an excellent catch in our first game.” So impressed was he that he almost extended an invitation on the spot. “I nearly said, “Hey, there”s a spot whenever you”re interested. Come talk to me. We can point you in trials and compete,”” he added, highlighting Beckham”s potential for the upcoming 2028 Olympics, where flag football will make its debut.

During the tournament”s Round Robin stage, Beckham executed one of his signature one-handed catches against the Team USA defense, showcasing that he has not lost his touch. His performance raised questions about his potential to join the team competing for Olympic glory.

When asked which NFL player impressed them most at the tournament, Team USA”s response was unanimous: “Odell Beckham Jr.” This further emphasizes the impact Beckham had during the event.

Cascudo acknowledged the challenges NFL players face when transitioning to flag football, noting that receivers might adapt quicker since their primary tasks involve running routes and catching passes. “I think Odell was one of the best,” he remarked, underscoring Beckham”s capability to excel in this format.

Brady”s Flag Football Classic is part of several promotional efforts aimed at boosting the sport”s visibility ahead of the Olympics. The NFL is keen to have its athletes on the national team, but as Cascudo pointed out, not every player will make the cut. However, if anyone has a shot, it is undoubtedly the legendary Beckham.
