Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss to Sue NCAA Over Eligibility Denial

Trinidad Chambliss, the quarterback for the Ole Miss Rebels, is taking legal action against the NCAA following the denial of his request for a sixth year of eligibility. This decision came after Chambliss had previously played two seasons at Ferris State, where he not only took a redshirt year but also led the team to a national championship before transferring to Ole Miss just before the start of the recent season.

Chambliss intends to file a lawsuit in Mississippi state court, with the assistance of trial lawyer William Liston. The legal team aims to prepare a detailed complaint seeking both a preliminary and permanent injunction that would allow Chambliss to participate in the upcoming season. According to his attorney, the lawsuit is expected to be more comprehensive than other eligibility-related lawsuits filed recently.

As reported, the NCAA denied Chambliss” waiver request on the grounds that neither Ole Miss nor Ferris State provided adequate medical documentation to justify the extension of his eligibility. During his time at Ferris State, Chambliss faced medical challenges that limited his playtime, including a redshirt year in 2021-2022.

In his first season with Ole Miss, Chambliss threw for nearly 4,000 yards and recorded 22 touchdown passes, contributing significantly to the team”s impressive 13-2 record and their first appearance in the College Football Playoff semifinals, where they narrowly lost to Miami 31-27.

With the potential for a lawsuit being filed by the end of the week, Chambliss and his representatives remain hopeful for a favorable outcome that would permit him to compete in the next season.
