The Oregon Ducks are currently navigating a pivotal quarterback scenario this fall in Eugene. Quarterback Dante Moore is stepping up to the challenge, particularly after former Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Dylan Raiola joined the team prior to the season.
Under the guidance of coach Dan Lanning, Moore and Raiola are cultivating a professional relationship that balances camaraderie and teamwork. The Ducks faced a tough defeat against the national champion Indiana Hoosiers in last season”s College Football Playoff, losing in the Peach Bowl with a score of 56-22. Raiola”s arrival comes after a shaky exit from Lincoln, and Moore has noted that Raiola is embracing the cultural shift that prioritizes winning in Eugene.
“More of it was, with Dylan coming in and kind of playing the role like Dillon Gabriel did for me when I first came in,” Moore explained. “Making sure that I was in tune with things when it came to the offense. Always there to help Dylan out, just to push him at practice and push him in the weight room. Just be that energy source that he needs and make sure he gets through his days.”
Moore spoke highly of Raiola despite the mixed reactions from fans on social media, stating, “He”s a great guy. He has great energy, a great dude to be around. I”m excited for this future.” He recalled a meaningful conversation where he served as a mentor to Raiola, hoping their candid discussions about life and football would foster a strong partnership in the quarterback room.
“Of course, Dylan Raiola, when he came in, he talked to me,” Moore said. “He opened up the table and just vented to me about things he needs to work on, things he can help me with. And I really appreciate that.”
Moore emphasized that their dynamic should not feel like a competition but rather a mutual support system, where both players uplift one another on and off the field. “It won”t be more of a big-bro, little-bro,” he clarified. “It”ll be more of a, that”s my teammate and we”re trying to get each other better.”
The Ducks” season ahead includes several intriguing challenges, particularly with their upcoming game against the Cornhuskers at Autzen Stadium on October 17. This matchup may present Raiola with the unique opportunity of playing against his former team, adding another layer of intrigue to an already compelling narrative. As the fall approaches, the anticipation for this pivotal game continues to grow.
In addition to their matchups, the Ducks are set to face other formidable teams, contributing to a competitive schedule that will test their resilience and adaptability throughout the season.
