Pittsburgh Steelers Bring Back C.J. Henderson for Workout Following Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers welcomed cornerback C.J. Henderson for a workout on Wednesday, as reported by the NFL transaction wire. This move comes in response to injuries affecting their cornerback depth, particularly with Darius Slay sidelined.

Henderson, who previously spent time with the Steelers last year, faced a season-ending neck injury, leading to his departure from the team in free agency. Earlier this year, he was with the Atlanta Falcons but was released after the preseason. Henderson”s journey has seen him work out for multiple teams in the past year, seeking an opportunity to secure a spot on a roster.

Despite being a former top-ten pick, Henderson has struggled to reach the expectations set for him. Nevertheless, his experience is valued, having played for various teams, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, and Houston Texans. Last season, he was signed to the Steelers” practice squad, where he attracted interest from other teams before being promoted to the active roster.

Currently, the Steelers are also looking to bolster their secondary. They have Daryl Porter Jr. and Daequan Hardy as cornerbacks on their practice squad and are reportedly finalizing a signing with Asante Samuel Jr.. Following the release of Darrick Forrest, there is an open spot available on their practice squad, highlighting the team”s efforts to enhance their defensive lineup.
