Rams” Davante Adams Leaves Game Against 49ers with Oblique Injury

SANTA CLARA — During the Rams” 42-26 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Davante Adams had to leave the game due to an oblique injury. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter after he ran a route, prompting him to reach for his lower back on the left side of his torso.

Head coach Sean McVay indicated that the seasoned veteran, in his 12th year, likely had the ability to return if the situation had been more pressing. “He got his oblique. I think he could have been able to come back in if it was a little bit closer,” McVay stated following the game.

As Adams was running a route late in the game, he abruptly halted and reached for his back. After leaving the field, he engaged in conversation with VP of sports performance Reggie Scott. Adams then attempted to inform the coaching staff that he was ready to re-enter the game. However, Scott intercepted him, leading Adams to the blue injury tent after he bent over, resting his hands on his knees.

“It was biting a little bit in the game, but it”s feeling better now,” Adams commented. “And we”ll see how it feels next week.”

Despite his early exit, Adams was a significant contributor, leading the Rams with eight targets and six receptions, totaling 77 yards. He also secured his sixth touchdown in just three games. On this touchdown play, Adams and fellow receiver Puka Nacua executed a scissor route, with Adams starting in the slot and breaking outside. Quarterback Matthew Stafford delivered a well-placed throw towards the sideline, out of reach for safety Malik Mustapha, allowing Adams to make the catch.

McVay praised Adams” impact, stating, “You really felt his presence early and often in the game.” The Rams displayed a balanced offensive performance, effectively neutralizing the 49ers throughout the contest.
