Russell Wilson Tours $29.75 Million Gilded Age Mansion in New York City

Russell Wilson, the backup quarterback for the New York Giants, has recently toured a historic Gilded Age mansion located on the Upper West Side, which is currently on the market for $29.75 million. This price is significantly reduced from its previous listing of $50 million in 2013. Wilson”s house-hunting comes shortly after he signed a one-year contract worth $10.5 million with the Giants earlier this month, following a single season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, he was benched after the Giants lost their first three games of the current season.

Despite the rocky start in New York, Wilson is receiving substantial support from his wife, Ciara, and her celebrity friends. Ciara recently appeared on Apple Music”s “Level Up Radio,” where she mentioned that her husband is “always in the mix” and wants to stay updated on the latest gossip when she spends time with her close friends, including singer Kelly Rowland and actress La La Anthony.

The limestone Beaux-Arts mansion, located at 349 W. 86th St., has been owned by the same individual since 1999. Randall Jackson purchased the property for $1.4 million and completely renovated it, transforming it from an abandoned state that had no stairs or roof, with only rats and pigeons as occupants. The property has been back on the market since April, listed at its current price.

Historically, the mansion was once owned by exiled Russian prince Sergei Belosselsky-Belozersky, who utilized it as a headquarters for the House of Free Russia from the 1940s until the 1990s. The home boasts ample space for relaxation and features a stunning facade that includes Doric columns, Roman brick, terra-cotta, and wrought iron balconies. Developed around 1901 by Joseph A. Farley and designed by Janes and Leo Architects, the facade was designated as a landmark in 2020.

Spanning 25 feet in width and seven stories high, the mansion includes eight fireplaces, an interior elevator, and outdoor space on nearly every level. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a grand foyer characterized by high ceilings, hardwood floors, and an abundance of natural light. The elegant living and dining rooms are tailored for entertaining, complemented by a chef”s kitchen that opens to a terrace. Additional features include a screening room, several dens, a home gym, and a breathtaking rooftop garden.

The listing broker for this exquisite property is Lydia Sussek of Douglas Elliman, who has opted not to comment on the tour.
