Sauce Gardner Cleared to Play Against Falcons After Concussion Protocol

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Thursday that newly acquired cornerback Sauce Gardner has successfully cleared the concussion protocol. He is set to take the field on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin.

Head Coach Shane Steichen confirmed the decision on Wednesday, stating that the plan was to have Gardner participate if he received medical clearance. Gardner joined the Colts in a surprising blockbuster trade with the New York Jets right before the trade deadline on Tuesday.

This addition is significant for the Colts, as Gardner”s presence strengthens a secondary that has struggled with injuries throughout the season. He will be teaming up with Pro Bowl slot cornerback Kenny Moore II. The Colts are also optimistic that fellow Pro Bowl cornerback Charvarius Ward will be cleared from concussion protocol after their upcoming bye week, which follows the match in Berlin.

Gardner is expected to address the media for the first time since the trade later on Thursday.
