The Indianapolis Colts have confirmed that newly signed cornerback Sauce Gardner has successfully cleared the concussion protocol and is expected to take the field on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen stated on Wednesday that the team planned to have Gardner play if he received the necessary medical clearance. Gardner was acquired in a surprising trade with the New York Jets just ahead of the trade deadline on Tuesday.
This marks the first opportunity for Gardner to address the media since his trade, with a press conference scheduled for later on Thursday. His addition significantly strengthens an Indianapolis secondary that has faced challenges due to injuries throughout the season.
Gardner will team up with Pro Bowl slot cornerback Kenny Moore II. Colts fans are also hopeful that another Pro Bowl cornerback, Charvarius Ward, will be cleared from his concussion protocol after the team”s upcoming bye week, which follows their game in Berlin.
