Sophie Cunningham Chooses Chiefs as Super Bowl Favorites, Ignores Colts

Sophie Cunningham, a player for the Indiana Fever, has shared her early prediction for next year”s Super Bowl champion, favoring the Kansas City Chiefs led by tight end Travis Kelce. In doing so, she overlooked the Indiana Colts, expressing her preference for the Chiefs who narrowly lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the last Super Bowl held in February.

Cunningham”s support for Kansas City comes with a hope that the injury struggles seen in both the Fever and the Indiana Pacers of the NBA will not plague the Colts this season. The Fever experienced a challenging season due to injuries, including setbacks for key players like Caitlin Clark, Sydney Colson, Aari McDonald, and Cunningham herself, who is still recuperating from an MCL injury.

Despite their injury woes, the Fever managed a surprising run in the 2025 WNBA playoffs, making it to the semifinals before falling to the eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces.

Shifting focus to the NBA, Cunningham has also revealed her pick for this season”s champions, placing her bets on the defending champions, the OKC Thunder. With their championship core intact, the Thunder are seen as strong contenders for another title after defeating the Pacers in a thrilling seven-game NBA Finals last season.

Currently, Cunningham is a free agent as she awaits discussions regarding a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Last season, she averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while playing with the Fever.
