Travis Kelce took advantage of the Kansas City Chiefs” bye week, opting for a refreshing getaway rather than staying home. The All-Pro tight end swapped the intensity of Arrowhead Stadium for the vibrant atmosphere of New York City, spending quality time with his fiancée and enjoying a few days of relaxation.
On a recent episode of his podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother and former Philadelphia Eagles player, Kelce discussed his experience during the break. “I got a little bit out of the house, went to New York,” he shared. “Just hung out, man, put the feet up. Saw some cool places, ate some great food. Got to feel the big city and its electricity, and its buzz that it”s always got.”
Kelce, known for his dynamic presence on the field, emphasized the need for moments of respite. After years of adhering to strict NFL schedules that include early mornings, practice routines, and game preparation, he has learned the importance of taking a break. “You get so ingrained in the routine of things,” he explained. “Your days are set, your schedules are set during the season, and the bye week is just that. If you”re fortunate enough to come out healthy, you can get away. I like to get away and recharge.”
During his time in New York, Kelce also connected with friends. He mentioned visiting Puffy”s Tavern, where he reconnected with familiar faces and met new friends. “Met my guy Summit out for a drink, met some new friends. Got some new friends that I know out in New York,” he said, laughing.
While the tone of the podcast remained light-hearted, fans quickly recognized that Kelce was also spending time with Taylor Swift in Manhattan. The couple was spotted dining at the Polo Club before heading to Zero Bond, an exclusive members-only lounge known for its discretion. A former contestant from The Bachelorette briefly shared online about their encounter, describing Swift as “present, gracious, and glowing,” before removing the post. He humorously noted her charm when she took a sip from his drink after finishing hers.
For Kelce, this trip served as a perfect mental reset ahead of the critical stretch of the NFL season. “Being in Kansas City for 13 years straight, for eight months out of the year, yeah, that can be a nice home for somebody,” he reflected. “But at the same time, I got to move my feet, man. I got to travel, see new things, visit friends.”
As the Chiefs gear up to face the Denver Broncos on November 16, this mini-vacation may have provided Kelce with the much-needed opportunity to recharge, reminding all that even the most competitive athletes require time to rest and rejuvenate before returning to the field.
