The USC Women of Troy achieved their sixth consecutive victory with a 66–59 win against the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday night, continuing their strong performance throughout February. This victory came with concern as star freshman Jazzy Davidson left the game due to a leg injury in the closing minutes.
Davidson, who had an impressive 24 points in the game, was visibly in distress when she went down and required assistance from two trainers to exit the court. Though she did not return, she was later seen celebrating with her teammates after the game concluded, as the Women of Troy improved their season record to 17-9.
In the post-game press conference, USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb addressed concerns regarding Davidson”s condition, reassuring everyone that “Jazzy is OK.” The coach indicated that the injury was likely related to ongoing cramps that Davidson has been managing during the season.
Davidson”s stellar performance included not only her 24 points but also five rebounds, six assists, four steals, and three blocks. Freshman Laura Williams made a significant contribution as well, matching her career high with 14 rebounds over 29 minutes of play.
Despite the injuries and an overall shooting percentage of just 39%, the USC team managed to outpace Wisconsin, which finished slightly lower at 35%. It was a challenging night for both teams in terms of shooting accuracy, but the contributions from Davidson and Kara Dunn ultimately secured the pivotal conference win for the Women of Troy.
Looking ahead, USC has three games remaining in the regular season, which includes a challenging matchup against the No. 10 ranked Ohio State this Sunday, followed by contests against Penn State next Wednesday and a season finale against UCLA on March 1.
