The Island League Football Tournament entered its ninth week with the first matches of 2026 taking place on January 3. As the competition unfolds, Boca Bombers FC sits at the top of the standings with 20 points. Close behind, Sea Bulls FC follows with 19 points, while Sharks FC has moved into third place with 14 points. Team Alaia holds the fourth spot, and Shark Shooters FC is currently in fifth.
The opening match featured Sea Bulls FC against Survivor United at the Ambergris Stadium, kicking off at 7 PM. From the beginning, Sea Bulls took charge of the game, dominating possession and limiting Survivor United”s chances to score. Despite facing challenges, Survivor United fought back fiercely, compelling Sea Bulls to exert considerable effort for their victory. The match concluded with Sea Bulls FC triumphing 4-2.
In the second game, Sharks FC squared off against Shark Shooters FC. Sharks FC established control early, leading at halftime. Though Shark Shooters FC attempted to rally, Sharks FC maintained a quicker pace and a well-structured strategy throughout the match. Each time Shark Shooters managed to score, Sharks FC responded with aggressive plays and additional goals. In the final moments, Sharks FC clinched the match with one last goal, resulting in a decisive 5-2 win.
League activities will resume from January 8 through January 10. The first matchup will have Team Alaia facing Island Rebels FC. The following day, Sharks FC will take on league leaders Boca Bombers FC, followed by a match between Survivor United and G Strikers FC. On the final day, Black Sails FC will challenge Sea Bulls FC, while Joker FC will compete against Shark Shooters FC in the weekend”s closing match. All games are set to commence at 7 PM at the Ambergris Stadium.
