Cardinals Shock Cowboys with 27-17 Victory to End Losing Streak

The Arizona Cardinals pulled off a surprising upset against the Dallas Cowboys, winning 27-17 on the road and putting an end to their five-game losing streak.

Backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett led the charge for Arizona, throwing two touchdown passes and rushing for another. This victory marked the Cardinals” third win of the season and was particularly sweet as it came against a Cowboys team that had struggled with mistakes.

Brissett, stepping in for starter Kyler Murray, completed 21 passes for 261 yards, showcasing his ability to capitalize on the Cowboys” numerous errors. The loss was particularly painful for Dallas, as it represented their first defeat at home this season, leaving them with a record of 3-5-1.

“Just a complete team win,” Brissett remarked following the game. “We knew it was going to be a dogfight coming in here. I thought we did a good job.”

The game started poorly for the Cowboys, with quarterback Dak Prescott being sacked five times throughout the match. The early momentum shifted to the Cardinals when Prescott was taken down during a failed fourth down conversion attempt deep in Arizona territory. This allowed the Cardinals to take the lead with a 48-yard field goal from Chad Ryland.

After forcing a punt, Arizona capitalized on the Cowboys” continued struggles, extending their lead to 10-0 with a four-yard touchdown pass from Brissett to Marvin Harrison Jr.. The Cowboys” troubles continued when tight end Jake Ferguson fumbled, giving the Cardinals another opportunity.

However, Dallas finally found the end zone when a punt from Arizona was blocked by Sam Williams, allowing Marshawn Kneeland to recover the ball for a touchdown, cutting the deficit.

Just before halftime, the Cardinals regained their ten-point cushion with Brissett leading a methodical 11-play, 74-yard drive, finishing it off with a short rushing touchdown.

Arizona continued to apply pressure in the second half, with Brissett connecting with Trey McBride for another touchdown, increasing the lead to 24-7.

Despite the Cowboys” attempts to make a comeback, which included a field goal to make it 24-10, they could not overcome the deficit. A late field goal from Arizona pushed the score to 27-10. Although Prescott found Ryan Flournoy for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys” chances were dashed when they fumbled on their next possession and Prescott threw an interception in the closing minutes.

This loss adds to the challenges facing the Cowboys as they aim to regroup and improve for the rest of the season.
