The Georgetown Technical High School Egrets are set to launch their title defense today at the 2025–26 NSSSA Girls Football Championship. The tournament kicks off at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City, hosted by Wesley College.
As the reigning national champions, the Egrets return with a seasoned roster, spearheaded by captain Kenya Perez, a midfielder for the Belize Women”s National Team and winner in the Premier Women”s League of Belize. She is supported by fellow national team members Jolene Aranda and Kiana Lewis, both prominent figures in the U17 BWNT and PWLB.
Georgetown Technical will begin their campaign against Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School, the champions from the Western region, at 2:00 PM. In the second semifinal match, taking place at 6:00 PM, the Belize High School of Agriculture will compete against EP Yorke High School. The Stingers feature Betsy Perez, another player in the PWLB, while EP Yorke arrives after a successful run in the CSSSA, highlighted by the talents of MVP Jeniyah Welch, top scorer LiAudra Graham, and Best Goalkeeper Amarqua Arnold.
The victors of these semifinals will advance to the National Final scheduled for Saturday at noon, with the third-place match set for 8:00 AM. The girls” competition opens with a strong field, showcasing some of the best talent seen in recent NSSSA history, featuring national team players and first division standouts.
The competition promises to be fierce as the Egrets strive for back-to-back championships, underscoring their dominance in girls” football in Belize.
