Hoquiam Becomes “Hawkuiam” in Honor of Seahawks Super Bowl Bid

The city of Hoquiam has made a unique gesture in support of the Seattle Seahawks as they prepare for their upcoming Super Bowl appearance.

On February 3, the city officially proclaimed itself “the City of Hawkuiam” for the week leading up to the championship game. This proclamation reflects the community”s enthusiasm and pride for their NFL team.

Mayor Ben Winkelman stated, “NOW THEREFORE, I, Ben Winkelman, Mayor of the City of Hoquiam, do hereby recognize the honor and accomplishments of the Seattle Seahawks football team, its players and coaches, and do proclaim that the name of the City of Hoquiam shall be temporarily changed to “Hawkuiam” for the week of February 1, 2026 through February 8, 2026.”
