Large Crowd Celebrates Tom Cusack Memorial Cup in Rosbrien

The annual Tom Cusack Memorial Cup took place last month at Takumi Park in Rosbrien, attracting a significant number of spectators. This marked the 21st edition of the event, held in memory of Tom Cusack, who passed away unexpectedly in 2003 at the age of 56.

Tom was a pivotal figure at Richmond RFC, serving multiple terms as both president and secretary, and he dedicated many years to coaching teams ranging from under 6 to under 18 levels. His commitment extended to the Munster Branch Youths, and he had a longstanding affiliation with Crescent College Comprehensive, contributing to the school”s rugby program for over three decades.

For more than 20 years, this competition has unfolded each October, featuring the Richmond RFC U16 team. This year, they faced off against a combined team from Old Crescent, UL-Bohs, and Nenagh. The event was captured in vivid detail by photographer Brendan Gleeson, who documented the colorful atmosphere and the excitement that filled the park.

In addition to celebrating the match, the organizers are encouraging community engagement through their Camera Club. Residents are invited to share their photographs that reflect local life, be it from events, landscapes, or everyday moments. Instructions for submission can be found on the Camera Club page, where participants should include their names, the location of the photo, and a brief caption. Selected images will have the chance to be featured on the website and in the newspaper, reaching an audience across the county and beyond.
