Minnesota Vikings Launch Girls Flag Football Program in Fargo Area

The Minnesota Vikings are partnering with the Fargo Park District to introduce a pilot program for high school girls flag football. This initiative is aimed at high school girls in Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, and nearby communities.

The program will unfold over an eight-week season, featuring weekly practices, six regular-season games, and playoff matches. Teams will consist of at least ten players, and there is potential for up to eight teams to participate. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with a waitlist available once capacity is reached.

Participating players will incur a fee of fifty dollars to join the program, although scholarships are accessible for qualifying individuals. The Fargo Park District emphasizes that this initiative reflects the Vikings” commitment to expanding the sport of football and empowering young women in the community.

Students interested in joining the program must register by April 1, with the season set to commence during the week of April 13. Should the program prove successful, it may pave the way for future expansions into additional states within the region.

Scholarships will be provided to players residing in Fargo who meet the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction Income Eligibility Guidelines and are currently recipients of SNAP benefits.
