Alabama football has bolstered its offensive line by acquiring transfer Nick Brooks, a former highly-rated recruit from a rival SEC school. Brooks announced his commitment via social media on Friday, joining former Cal Poly center Racin Dalgatty as part of Alabama”s transfer class.
At 6-foot-7 and weighing 349 pounds, Brooks brings significant size to the Crimson Tide”s offensive front. He appeared in five games for the Texas Longhorns last season and retains three years of eligibility to compete in Tuscaloosa. His college debut was as a right tackle against Sam Houston, but he primarily played left guard for the remainder of the season, including starts against teams like Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.
Originally a four-star recruit in the 2025 class, Brooks was ranked as the 25th offensive tackle by 247Sports composite rankings. His addition comes at a crucial time for Alabama, which has seen a significant turnover on its offensive line. The team lost nearly all of its starters from the previous season, with Kam Dewberry, Jaeden Roberts, and Geno VanDeMark exhausting their eligibility, while Kadyn Proctor and Parker Brailsford opted for the NFL Draft. Wilkin Formby also made the decision to transfer to Texas A&M.
In addition to Brooks and Dalgatty, Alabama has brought in Kaden Strayhorn, who played at Michigan last season, as the Crimson Tide looks to rebuild its offensive line through the ongoing transfer portal. The 15-day entry window for transfers is closing soon, following Alabama”s disappointing end to the 2025 season, which culminated in a 38-3 loss to Indiana. Undergraduates must finalize their transfer applications by 11 p.m. CT on Friday.
