In recent discussions around NFL trades, Bleacher Report”s Alex Ballentine proposed a noteworthy hypothetical scenario involving the Miami Dolphins. Although official trades cannot be executed until the start of the 2026 season on March 11, teams can still negotiate agreements ahead of time.
Ballentine outlined a potential trade for the Dolphins, suggesting they exchange their third-round draft pick in the upcoming draft, specifically the 75th overall selection, with the Seattle Seahawks. In return, the Dolphins would acquire promising 23-year-old quarterback Jalen Milroe.
Milroe, drafted by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, saw limited action during his rookie season, participating in just three games. With veteran quarterback Sam Darnold holding down the starting role, Milroe did not have the opportunity to showcase his skills. However, his impressive performances during his junior and senior years at the University of Alabama indicate he could be a viable long-term solution for the Dolphins at quarterback.
The term “dual threat” is often overused, but Milroe exemplifies this classification. During his tenure at Alabama, he amassed a total of 5,678 passing yards and threw for 39 touchdowns as a junior and senior. Additionally, he demonstrated significant rushing ability, scoring 32 touchdowns over his final two college seasons, including 20 touchdowns in his senior year.
Given the uncertainty surrounding the Dolphins” quarterback situation, this proposed trade could be an opportune move for the team. Speculation continues about who will lead the Dolphins as their starting quarterback next season, especially with indications that longstanding starter Tua Tagovailoa may be released in the near future.
